Geek Girls: Queens Of The Web (video)

in Technology, business feature, social media

Last week I had the pleasure of sitting down with the Nancy Lyons (Twitter link) and Meghan Wilker (Twitter link) from Geek Girls Guide. I’d originally tried to meet with them earlier, but Meghan thought it would be more important to go to New York.

Aside from being absolutely hilarious and smart, these girls have other jobs as CEO’s and Managing Directors. They use their alter-egos to shower the internet with knowledge and understanding. They also do speaking events too. The goal of Geek Girls Guide is to make learning about technology as easy as possible. Their blog creates a safe and friendly place to ask questions without feeling like a newbie.

Here is a summary of what we talked about

  • What is the most common misconception about how businesses use social media?
  • What are some of the coolest businesses in town using the internet?
  • What are your tools and methods for staying organized?

Here are links for the sites mentioned in the video

Thanks, Andy! It was fun talking to you.

I am an aspiring geek girl, to be sure. Really enjoyed the video. Wish I lived in Minneapolis so I could blossom with these two, too!

Hi Pam,

I’m glad you enjoyed the video. It is my hope that there is some form of Geek Girls in every area, They just might not have found you yet! Minneapolis is good town for creatives and their industry showcases “Minnesota nice” as it should be.

Cheers

Andy, love your intro of them as hilarious and smart because it is SO TRUE! I own a PR firm in Chicago and we’ve aligned ourselves with Clockwork because of what you experienced spending time with them. They’re smart, but they don’t take themselves seriously. We need more businesses leaders like Nancy and Meghan.

@Gina Definitely! They are the kind of people that I’m sure everyone wants to work with. They also do A LOT of giving back to their community. They really understand this new age of giving more than you take. (It’s not really new but people can now see the benefits easier online.)

Cheers and thanks for stopping by :)
